About

Dr. Yardana Kaufman is a Reproductive Psychiatrist at Zucker Hillside Hospital’s Perinatal Psychiatry Center and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University and Northwell Health. Her area of clinical expertise includes the evaluation and management of individuals struggling with mood and anxiety disorders linked to the menstrual cycle and the peripartum period. She has presented on reproductive psychiatry at conferences for Postpartum Support International and the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

She completed her medical training at Tufts University, where she co-founded and designed the educational curriculum for a group prenatal care program for adolescents in Lynn, Massachusetts. Subsequently, she completed an internship at Brown University in family medicine including maternal-child health and obstetrics. During her internship, she developed an interest in women’s mental health and decided to pursue psychiatry. She engaged in research at Brown University investigating yoga and exercise as interventions for treating perinatal depression and leading wellness workshops for pregnant women.

As a psychiatry resident at Zucker Hillside Hospital, she completed a reproductive psychiatry track and co-led the perinatal psychiatry educational curriculum for the residency. As a Perinatal Psychiatry Pathways to Discovery Scholar, she designed and delivered an educational seminar to Northwell Health obstetric practices on the identification and management of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and developed a platform for obstetric providers to easily access perinatal mental health resources.
