About

Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Child and Adol. Services, University of Rochester Medicine

Dr. Meredith Gansner is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist and researcher in high-risk digital media use in youth. She completed her psychiatric training at the Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Cambridge Health Alliance. Dr. Gansner first became interested high-risk digital media use over a decade ago, particularly as it related to young patients with psychiatric symptoms of anxiety or depression. Research consistently suggests that these youth are most vulnerable to the dangers of social media; yet, as a specialty, we are still struggling to understand how best to protect this high-risk population.

Through her research and writing, Dr. Gansner hopes to make a meaningful difference in the way we manage issues like cyberbullying, sexting, exposure to high-risk online content, and excessive digital media use in clinical settings.
